Rain and cooler temperatures are expected to have an impact on the Bearhole Lake fire, and assist in containment.

Up to 25mm of rain is expected in the area this evening, which would reduce fire behavior after a stretch of hot and dry weather.

BC Wildfire Service says containment of the fire is progressing well. Control lines have held, and more success is expected over the coming days. Crews will continue their attack on the ground and in the air.

The fire is still burning close to 6,500 hectares.

Highway 52 has now re-opened between Kelly Lake road and Red Willow. Crews are still working in the area, and ask drivers to remain cautious.
