TUMBLER RIDGE -- Police are still looking for a man who was the subject of a manhunt south of Tumbler Ridge.

Jared Wayne Holland is wanted on several charges, including flight from police in Tumbler Ridge.

The man, who is well known to the police, and a woman, escaped from officers after ramming a police vehicle on Tuesday.

Holland is also wanted on several warrants in both British Columbia and Alberta.

RCMP mistakenly reported earlier on Friday Holland was located and arrested in Alberta. They later confirmed this is not the case and he remains at large.

Jared Holland is described as;

  • Caucasian male
  • 28 years old
  • 175 cms (5'9)
  • 66 kgs (146 lbs)
  • Brown hair
  • Green eyes but often wears contact lenses
  • Tattoos on both forearms

If located, RCMP asks to contact them, or the police of your jurisdiction in your area. They add you should not confront or attempt to aprehend Jared Holland.

Earlier on Tuesday, police spotted a stolen vehicle they say was used in a theft of wire and other material near Dawson Creek. Police located the vehicle on a Forest Service Road and boxed in the three suspects. Mounties say one of their police cars was then rammed, rendering the suspect vehicle useless.

A male suspect was found later on Tuesday, walking along Highway 52. He was arrested without incident.

"The female suspect remains a person of interest in this investigation and has now been identified," Corporal Madonna Saunderson, with the North District RCMP tells CJDC-TV.

The investigation is ongoing, and RCMP says more information may be released as it becomes available.
