DAWSON CREEK -- While the extreme cold temperatures in the Peace region stick around, The City of Fort St. John has paused non-essential snow removal.

The city says, temperatures dropping below -30 cause damage to the snow removal equipment.

The road conditons will continue to be monitored and the city will lay sand to ensure the roads remain safe for drivers.

The pause in removing snow from side roads and residential neighbourhoods will remain in effect until further notice.
