DAWSON CREEK -- Stage 2 water restrictions in Dawson Creek, in place since February have been rescinded.

The city said the Kiskatinaw River, where the intake valves for city’s water treatment plant are located is now back to 90 per cent of capacity.

On February 5,th stage 2 water restrictions were put in place. City workers were forced to stop pumping water from the river after finding water levels 46 centimetres below normal.

Water levels in the Dawson Creek area were affected by existing drought conditions, frigid temperatures in January, along with an increase in demand from industry

During Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures, a person must not:

a./ water lawns, except:  at premises with even-numbered civic addresses, on even calendar dates between 4:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.; and
at premises with odd-numbered civic addresses, on odd calendar dates between 4:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.; or

b./ use a hose providing water to wash boats or motor vehicles, unless the hose is equipped with an automatic shut-off device.
