DAWSON CREEK, B.C. -- October marks the start of LGBT History Month.

In May, the City of Dawson Creek agreed to raise the rainbow flag at City Hall for the month of October.

On Friday, October 1st, the City raised the pride flag, where it will stay for the rest of the month.

LGBT History Month was created in 1994 after National Coming Out Day was established in October of 1979.

History month is highlighting and celebrating achievements the LGBT community has made throughout the years.

The pride flag is raised in Dawson Creek every year in the month of October.
