DAWSON CREEK, B.C. -- The City of Dawson Creek provided an update on flooding that happened at the start of the month. On May 7th, 2022 the city says water levels in Dawson Creek had risen by 20 per cent over a two day period. Because of the rising water, the walking trail along 17th Street and Highway 97 was closed off. The city also says the back nine holes at the Dawson Creek Golf Course experienced flooding as it is one of the lowest sitting points along the creek.

Back in 2018, the city was identified as being at moderate to high risk of the effects caused by flooding. Since then, extensive flood mapping of the area has been done to better understand and predict future floods. More information on the studies can be found here.
