CHETWYND -- The emergency department at the Chetwynd Hospital and Health Centre is experiencing yet another diversion today.

The ER was closed shortly after 8:00 a.m. on November 6th, 2024, and is not expected to reopen until 8:00 a.m Thursday, November 7th.

Northern Health says the closure is due to ‘staffing challenges.’

“People in the Chetwynd area who need life-threatening emergency care should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” said Northern Health in a notice posted to Facebook.

The closure comes on the heels of another diversion Monday that saw the ER closed overnight, reopening Tuesday morning.

The diversion marks the second time this month staffing issues have forced the ER to turn away patients.
