CHETWYND, BC -- Municipal Election Day is fast approaching, but residents of Chetwynd will not be voting for their district council – because there are only six candidates for Chetwynd’s six council seats.

Since all the candidates are unopposed, they have been declared elected by acclamation.

The new council has three incumbents keeping their seats: Clay Bassendowski, Melvin Deck, and Janet Wark. Joining them are newcomers Kayla MacDonald, Julia Nelson, and Andrea Smith.

Chetwynd residents will still vote for their new mayor on Election Day. Current mayor Allen Courtoreille will be battling Michael Warrington for the district’s top job.

General voting day is October 15th.
