FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- Supply chain issues have forced Canfor to continue a reduction in operating schedules at saw mills in Fort St. John and Chetwynd.
The company extended a reduction in operating capacity at sawmills across Western Canada. Canfor mills across the region started operating at 80 per cent capcity following an announcement in March.
“The global supply challenges are continuing to significantly limit our ability to transport products to our customers and our inventory levels remain very high. We are working to bring our inventory levels back into balance by reducing our production, while also working to meet the needs of our customers,” said Don Kayne, President and CEO of Canfor in a statement.
Canfor said the operation reduction is expected to last until after rotating downtime in July and August. The company is planning to complete maintenance during the two weeks of downtime at sawmills across Western Canada.
