DAWSON CREEK -- The snowy roads caused school buses in Dawson Creek and Chetwynd to be cancelled on Wednesday. School District 59 posted the update on their website Wednesday morning.
The cancellation came after a snowfall warning for the South Peace Region and high winds. The buses also did not run at the end of the school day. However, buses in School District 60 are running today as scheduled.
CJDC spoke with the School District on November 5th after buses were cancelled, and they shared that parents are notified through text when the buses are not running. They say historically buses can stop running more often during freezing temperatures, that is when drifting snow can become an issue in rural areas.
The School District also shared they prioritize safety for their students and bus drivers.
