DAWSON CREEK -- A brush fire ignited in the Torvan subdivision yesterday at in the South Dawson Creek area.

The Dawson Creek Fire Department said at around 1pm, high winds blew a tree over which hit a power line.

The fire grew to around half a hectare in size.

The Fire Department arrived at the scene and received help from the BC Wildfire Service.

BC Hydro was also called in to disconnect power.  

Although the fire is currently listed as out of control, it was fully extinguished yesterday afternoon.

No property was damaged and no injuries were reported.
