FORT ST. JOHN -- On January 20, 2022 at 7:35am, the Fort St John RCMP received multiple reports of a multi-vehicle collision involving a bus, a tractor trailer and two pickup trucks by Shephards Inn on the Alaska Highway, north of Fort St John, BC.

Police officers determined it was a single vehicle roll over with no other vehicles involved.

The tractor trailer had been following another vehicle, which stopped for a school bus in the opposite lane, with an activated Stop sign arm for a child crossing the road. The tractor trailer couldn't stop in time, jackknifing and rolling on its side, blocking the highway.

No injures were sustained by anyone involved. The driver of the tractor trailer was issued multiple violation tickets on scene.

"Winter driving conditions demand extra space and time," says Cst. Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. "A situation like this could have ended much worse and everyone was thankful that everyone was uninjured in this instance."

Drive BC reported the Alaska Highway was cleared and fully re-opened just after 12 p.m.
