FORT ST. JOHN -- The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has announced that restrictions on Category 2 and 3 open burning have been lifted across the Prince George Fire Centre.
As of noon October 4th, burn bans originally scheduled to be lifted on the 15th, will be allowed in Fort Nelson, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John.
The change will see burning concurrent piles permitted, along with burning stubble or grass smaller than 0.2 hectares and one or more windrows.
“Before lighting a fire, even if the burn category is not currently prohibited, ensure you are properly prepared, aware of the conditions and following open burning regulations,” said the BC Wildfire Service in a release.
The decision comes after bans in Mackenzie, Prince George, and the Stuart Nechako Forest District were lifted on September 24th, 2024.
