The BC Summer Games kick off in Prince George today.

Over 2200 athletes will be competing, including 32 from here in the Peace Region. The athletes are an average of 14 years old, and will compete in 18 different sports.

The last time Prince George hosted the games was in 1990.

The Peace Region is well represented in track and field, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and lacrosse. Others will be competing in baseball, softball, and rugby.

The games will wrap up with a closing celebration on Sunday.
