FORT ST. JOHN -- BC Hydro announced the Halfway River boat launch will close this Saturday due to the filling of the Site C reservoir.
Hydro said the boat launch will be closed for at least 1 year after the reservoir has been filled.
It’s due to erosion and slope instability.
Boaters between Fort St. John and Hudson’s Hope won’t have access to the Peace River.
New boat launches will be put in place at Halfway River and Linx Creek.
BC Hydro said they’ll have washrooms, an interpretive kiosk, a day use area and a small-craft lunch at the D.A. Thomas recreation area in Hudson’s Hope.
They're asking residents to use caution around the reservoir
The Halfway River boat launch will close on September 22nd.
