FORT ST. JOHN -- The area restrictions for the Teare Creek wildfire has been rescinded.

According to the B.C. Wildfire Service, there is no longer a need to restrict public access for firefighting personnel to operate efficiently and safely in the area due to the reduced fire activity and behaviour.

The Teare Creek wildfire was classified as under control on May 24. B.C. Wildfire does not anticipate any further growth to the fire.

B.C. Wildfire reminds the public that the Teare Creek wildfire is still an active wildfire and caution should be exercised at all times while travelling or working in the area. There are significant safety hazards present including trees that have been damaged by fire and ash pits.

The Village of McBride may continue to see smoke from within the perimeter. B.C. Wildfire asks residents to report smoke that rises from green, unburnt fuel or from outside the perimeter.

Road closures and area restrictions are subject to change depending on fire activity.
