FORT ST. JOHN -- Due to the heavy rain, all Evacuation Orders for the Klua Lake wildfire have been rescinded.

According to the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, the evacuation order has been replaced by an alert located between Klua Creek and Niteal Creek on the NRRM/PRRD border up to Fontas River.

The region says that residents should still be prepared to evacuate should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

There is a wildfire located in the Klua Lakes area approximately 35 km east of the community of Prophet River.

The Klua Lake fire has dropped from 26,307 hectares to 22,675 hectares overnight. It is still burning out of control; however, due to the rain and expected rain, B.C. Wildfire is expecting a significant decrease in fire activity.

According to B.C Wildfire, they are expecting to see more minimal fire activity.
