CHARLIE LAKE -- Traffic along Highway 97 at Mile 73 is flowing again after an early morning collision between a pick-up truck and logging trailer.
Initial reports surfaced on social media, showing images of the pick-up’s front end severely damaged from the impact of the crash that happened just before 7:30 a.m.
Following the accident, traffic was reduced to a single lane leading to a backlog in southbound traffic. Drivers were being advised to proceed with caution near Shepherd’s Inn along Shepherd’s Inn Frontage Road in Charlie Lake.
Highway cameras in the area show police and firefighters arriving on scene shortly after 8:00 a.m., clearing the collision soon after.
The highway is now completely reopen in both directions.
It remains unclear how the truck collided with the trailer. There are no confirmed reports of serious injuries at this time, although an ambulance was seen departing the area towards Fort St. John.
