The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. will be sending officers to Dawson Creek after a woman died in RCMP custody this weekend.
Police say a man and a woman were arrested early Saturday, then in put in cells.
Sometime later, the woman was observed to be unwell and Emergency Health Services were called.
The female went into medical distress and was transported to hospital in Dawson Creek, where she was then airlifted to Prince George.
She died in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The investigation will look into what role, if any, the officers’ actions or inaction may have played in her death.
