Two large fires break out in Dawson over night

Two fires late Tuesday night / early Wednesday morning kept members of Dawson Creek Fire Rescue busy maintaining public safety while containing the fire damage.

Around 10:30 Tuesday night DCFR received a report of a truck on fire in the parking lot outside a restaurant on Alaska Avenue.

When crews arrived, they found a pickup truck with heavy fire in the cab and engine area of the vehicle.
Firefighters made quick work of extinguishing the fire, containing the damage to the vehicle.

The cause of this fire is under investigation by RCMP and DCFR.

About two hours later crews were called to a reported structure fire in the trailer park off Adams Road.

Crews found a single wide mobile home, apparently under renovation, well involved in fire on arrival, with a neighbouring home being damaged by radiant heat from the fire.

Firefighters attacked the fire on two fronts, limiting the damage to the neighbouring home while extinguishing the main fire in the original building.

The first mobile home was extensively damaged while the neighbouring unit suffered damage to the siding and will likely be repairable.

This fire is under investigation by RCMP and DCFR.

CJDC-TV will have more information once it becomes available.
