Police Release Images of Van Found At Scene of Double-Homicide, Continue to Call for Witnesses

Travis Fortnum

RCMP have released images of the van found with the bodies of Lucas Fowler and Chynna Noelle Deese.

Police are investigating their deaths as a double homicide.

They are appealing for any witnesses who travelled the Alaska Highway about 20 kilometres south of Liard Hot Springs between 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14 and 8:00 a.m. Monday, July 15.

The van is described as a blue 1986 Chevrolet with Alberta plates.

In a media conference earlier this afternoon, RCMP Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says investigators are working to determine whether it's the vehicle the couple was travelling in or the vehicle the suspect used.

Lucas Fowler was 23-years-old.

He was originally from Australia, but Sgt. Shoihet said he was known to be living in BC.

Chynna Deese was 24.

She was from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Fowler's father is an active member of the New South Wales Police Force.

He will travel to the area with several police officers from Australia.

Sgt. Shoihet says that these investigators will be here in support of the Fowler family and will not form part of the investigative team.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250 774-2700.
