Grande Prairie RCMP investigate bear sighting

Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating after a report of a bear sighting in the city.
At around 12:35 on Saturday, September 22, the RCMP were called by a witness who had been walking her dog at the edge of a park in the Grand Banks neighbourhood. She reported seeing a bear around 30 metres out from the tree line. She then saw the bear run back into the trees.
Bears and humans have had a few run-ins recently in Grande Prairie. Conservation officers are still investigating after 2 grizzly bears were found shot dead last week south of the city. It is not known if the two shootings are connected.
