A man and a woman have been arrested in Grande Prairie after leading the RCMP on a chase through the city.

At 3:47 a.m on Tuesday, July 3, police were called to a break-in near the intersection of 72 Avenue and Poplar Drive. Two men had entered a home and assaulted the homeowner, before forcing them into a vehicle and fleeing the scene in two cars.

Police found one of the vehicles and chased it for 50 minutes, before it ended on Township Road 705 south of Crooked Creek when it drove into the ditch and got stuck. A woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested, while the driver tried to flee. The RCMP found him using police dogs, and arrested him. The victim was uninjured.

Police say they are still looking for the other suspect, and that charges are pending. Anyone with information is asked to phone Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
