Although the Spray Park in Fort St. John is complete, the Sunshine Rotary club gave city officials a big cheque this morning towards the city’s newest installment.

The club hosted a breakfast this morning at the Pomeroy Hotel, to present a 20-thousand dollar cheque to city.

Funds were raised through various events throughout 2018 such as Gala Night in February and the Colour Run that took place last month.

The Spray Park has been getting a lot of attention from kids and adults in the community since its opening at the beginning of July.

The club says they’re proud to pour the funds back into the community.

“It feels wonderful to drive by there, to walk by there to be there and see kids there and families there and members of our community enjoying it. Our community really needed a new upgraded spray park, and it’s beautiful, it’s wonderful, and it’s great. Our club members feel very satisfied that we can help the city with that and help the people of our community enjoy our outdoor spaces,” said Tara Waddy, President of the Sunshine Rotary club of Fort St. John.

City officials say the partnership with the Rotarians was an amazing experience.

“This has been a wonderful partnership with the Rotary clubs of Fort St. John to be able to build this amenity that really does enhance the quality of life in our community. The kids have loved that spray park, the day it opened it was just; there was a little bit of a water fight going on, they had a blasted. And you know, this is - this is what Rotarians do, they didn’t invent volunteerism, but I can tell you that they’ve perfected it,” said Lori Ackerman, Mayor of Fort St. John
The Club says they are currently preparing for their next major event, Oktoberfest.
