The Alaska Highway was shut down for several hours this afternoon following a fatal head-on collision involving a logging truck and car.
Cpl. Madonna Saunderson with North District RCMP says a northbound Kia crossed the centre line of the highway at around 1:03 p.m, and drove into the path of a southbound logging truck. The driver of the car, a 37-year-old woman from Kamloops, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is not being released, and there were no passengers in the vehicle. The driver of the logging truck is uninjured.

Corporal Saunderson says what caused the driver of the Kia to cross the centre line is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
