Fort Nelson Home to a Gigantic Snowman
Travis Fortnum
03/18/2019
The Northern Lights Festival in Fort Nelson is in it's last week. This weekend attendees got to see something unusual - a snowman of epic proportions!
He might not have sprung to life - but when they placed this hat on his head, it’s believed the organizers of the Northern Lights Festival in Fort Nelson were crowning the world record tallest snowman.
The goal was to melt the current world record holder – a snowwoman built in Bethel, Maine in 2008.
Named "Olympia", she stood at 122’1” and was compiled of about 13 million pounds of snow.
For this one, the sights were set on a 130 foot tall end result.
The frosty new Fort Nelson resident awaits official word on whether or not they’ve beat that record, decked out in his 100-foot-long scarf.
The Northern Lights festival continues until this weekend, with a performance by juno award winning group the sheepdogs performing on Saturday night.
