Enbridge is selling off assets in Northeastern BC

Hugh Smith

Enbridge has signed a deal to sell part of its natural gas business in Northeastern BC and Alberta.

It's selling its operations in Montney, Peace River Arch, Horn River and Liard Basins to Brookfield Infrastructure for $4.3 billion. The facilities under provincial regulation are expected to close this year and those under federal rules are due to close by mid-2019. The global natural gas and oil company says it will continue to hold natural gas transmission assets, including the westcoast transmission system in BC.

The company has been selling its non-core assets in an effort to reduce debt.
