A 28-year-old from Edmonton has been arrested in Grande Prairie after crashing into a gas meter.

On Saturday, August 18, at around 4:45 p.m, the RCMP were called to a home near the intersection of 96 Street and 72 Avenue where a vehicle drove through a fence, hit the residence and damaged the gas meter, causing a leak. Nearby homes were evacuated, and the street was closed until ATCO arrived and repaired the meter. The home did not suffer any structural damage.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was unharmed, but faces several traffic safety charges.
