It's an exciting time of year, getting ready for the holiday season.
Tonight (Friday), residents of Dawson Creek are gathering together to celebrate a tradition - the '27th annual Christmas Tree Light-Up' at the Mile Zero marker.
Starting at 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of 10th Street and 102nd Avenue, there will be a brief introduction, followed by live entertainment - bands, choirs, and dancers.
Afterwards, Santa Clause will be arriving to do the honours and light up the City's Christmas tree.
There will be many family-fun activities - and lots of treats: hot chocolate, hot apple cider, free santa hats, free popcorn, hand warmers, and more!
MLA Mike Bernier will be handing out coffee, donuts and toques to keep everyone warm, while Mayor Dale Bumstead and the city councillors will be greeting citizens and hanging out candy canes.
In addition, there will also be a box on site for non-perishable food donations for residents to share in the spirit of giving.
The intersection will be closed for this evening's festivities.
