With lines almost out the door the past couple of days you would think people would be waiting to spot their favorite celebrity, only in Dawson Creek it was ice cream they were after.

Nearly nine months after a kitchen fire tore through the Dawson Creek Dairy Queen , the business is back up and running, serving it's famous assortment of sweet treats to residents in the area.

Dairy Queen employee Talaea Harper says she's glad to be back at work following the nine month hiatus from the rebuilding phase and says the community support has been nothing short of amazing.

" It's been very busy, lots of people have been working extra hours and it's just pretty crazy but we are all working together as a team and it is going well," said Harper.

The business has turned into a magnet for families throughout the Peace region Since it  re-opened on Friday, with many families eager to indulge with their loved ones .

" I'm darn excited about it because I usually take my grand kids here for treats, and when it was closed I was a little bit disappointed , so I'm pretty happy that it is open now ," said Alfred Hart.

The Dawson Creek Dairy Queen is open until 10 p.m. this summer.
