Bundle Up for the Crystal Cup!

Travis Fortnum

Today is Day #1 of the 8th annual Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge on Charlie Lake.

Temperatures in the area tonight are supposed to feel like -25 with the wind chill, with winds gusting up to 50 km/h.

While organizers for the event have decided to proceed with tonight’s games, they’ve reached out to attendees to encourage everyone to “bundle up, and bundle up good.”

The first games tonight start at 6:00 P.M., with teams asked to prepare to clear the rinks of any snow drift.
Participants are encouraged to wear face covers and, if possible, goggles.

For day #2 tomorrow, Environment Canada predicts weaker winds and temperatures closer to -21 with the wind chill.
