24th annual Summer Cruise this weekend

A long-standing Dawson Creek tradition will be running this weekend, as the Mile Zero Cruisers celebrate their 24th Summer Cruise.

The free event kicks-off with pre-registration on Friday, July 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Dawson Creek Co-op. Organizers say there will be quite a variety of vehicles.

"Anything from brand new Camaros, Mustangs to class 1900 cars," said James Cox, president of the Mile Zero Cruisers. "Anything is welcome, even motorcycles. anything with wheels on it is welcome down."

The highlight of the weekend will begin on Sunday morning, with the largest 'SHOW & SHINE' in the North.

"It brings everyone together," Cox said. "Last year, we had as far as South and North Dakota come up for our event. It draws in huge amounts of people, so we get everyone from every province, B.C. and Alberta, come and check us out. Anybody driving through the city comes and stops and takes a look at what we put on. It's just a great show."

Last year, the Summer Cruise hosted a roaring number of cars - almost 450 - and organizers say they've seen that number grow each year.
