BC Hydro released some surprising statistics when it comes to home renovations.

The company says one in four BC northerners now regret the home renos they did last spring during the first COVID 19 lockdown.

The report published Friday also says people living here in Northern BC were the most likely to complete a renovation costing between $20,000 to $50,000.

Northerners are also the most likely to complete a do it yourself project.

The report goes on to say people here are more likely to complete stuctural work to their home but less likely to tackle interior design projects than the rest of British Columbians.

BC Hydro spokesperson for the north, Bob Gammer, says to avoid the regret of doing it yourself, do your research and look into hiring a professional to get the job done.

"I know people want to save money. but, if you want to avoid disappointment, you can often think about how to get a professional involved or at least some professional advice, so you're starting off on the right foot." Gammer said.
BC Hydro also has rebates upto $10,000 for specific energy efficient projects. You can go to bchydro.com/homerenorebates to see if your future plans qualify.

BC Hydro also recommends going to powersmart.ca for energy saving tips.
