DAWSON CREEK -- A fatal accident took place Tuesday night north of Dawson Creek. A 28-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene and three teenagers were sent to hospital. Police say the driver was intoxicated when his car hit a power pole.

CJDC spoke with the mother of a 16-year-old girl who had to be airlifted to a hospital in Vancouver.

Isabelle was in the backseat when the accident occurred and was thrown from the car, landing in a ditch.

Her mother, Holly Campbell tells CJDC TV news that her daughter Isabell was flown to a hospital in the lower mainland in serious condition. She suffered a broken nose, spinal fractures, a broken pelvis, a few broken ribs and both of her hips were fractured. Her wrist and multiple fingers are broken. Her right forearm is broken as well as her right shoulder. Isabell also has a punctured lung.

She underwent a nine-hour surgery and although she still can't speak she is now in stable condition. Her mother is feeling grateful that her daughter is alive.

Holly also shared that another teenager was flown to Edmonton. He suffered fractured vertebrae, a punctured lung and is breathing through a tube.

According to the GoFundMe page set up for him, he remains in a coma. He will likely be in hospital for 2 months.

The third teenager involved in the accident, who had their seatbelt on, has left the hospital.

Holly wants to remind the public about wearing a seatbelt when driving.
