Derek Meyers- Sports Anchor/Reporter

Growing up on a farm near small town Midale in southeast Saskatchewan (nestled in between Weyburn & Estevan on Hwy 39) Derek was like every other young boy.  He played hockey and to this day it remains his first love in sports, but he had an avid interest in most.  As Derek grew older and took on a career working as a geologist, his passion for sports continued to grow into more of an obsession.  He planned his vacations around going to sporting events.  Derek has watched Arsenal playing soccer in London, a couple of Canadian hockey games at the Salt Lake Olympics (unfortunately not the Gold medal game) and even drove through the night to go to Lambeau Field and see the Packers intersquad game...on route to watching the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.  Derek finally submitted to his desire of being around sports and that has led him here.  Since embarking on his journey it has been a wonderful two years and despite the massive changes in his life, his girlfriend Tanya and daughter Teigha have been his biggest supporters all the way.  Through everything they will remain the most important part of Derek's life

What Derek got for Christmas

Tammy Banfield - Reporter

Tammy Banfield is a born and bred Bluenoser.  She grew up in the now famous hockey town of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia (a.k.a. home of Sydney Crosby).  Most of her youth was spent at the rink trying to land double salchows and on the ball field striking-out batters.  After more years in University than Tammy would like to admit, she finally realized a career in media would allow her to continue learning about the world, but, without a student loan!  At the Atlantic Media Institute in Halifax, she was inspired by terrific instructors and quickly fell in love with broadcast journalism.  Her sports background led to play-by-play broadcasting of Junior 'A' hockey, the World Lacrosse Championships, and even playing some paintball on a local childen's show.  She also landed some part-time work reporting for Global Maritimes.  One month after graduation, Tammy packed her entire life into a 2005 Civic, and drove 7000 km to be part of the CJDC news team.  Whether she's talking about politics, local sports, landscape photography, shoes, or her latest adventure, Tammy just loves to tell a good story.

Peter Jackson - Reporter

Peter Jackson is a CJDC TV News reporter in Fort St. John, as well as morning news anchor on 101.5 The Bear, Energy FM and 890 CJDC. Born in Stettler Alberta, the majority of Peter's youth was spent playing the drums, hockey and basketball. Once he realised his dreams of playing goal for the Edmonton Oilers were a little off, he decided on a career that would keep him close to the action. During high school he had the opportunity to do colour commentary for the local Jr "B" team in Stettler during their playoff run. After high school, Peter packed his bags and moved to Saskatoon Saskatchewan to attend Western Academy Broadcasting College. Once completing the radio and advanced television portions of the course and graduating he once again packed his things up and made the hike to northern BC. Peter covers a range of topics during a typical work week including sports, school board meetings, community events and everything in between. When he isn't working he enjoys listening to Foo Fighters, watching The Edmonton Oilers and Boston Red Sox crush their opponents, and talking hockey with his dad on the phone.
