There are just four days left to file nomination papers for Fort St John's municipal elections. So far, eight candidates are in the running for council, six of those are currently serving as councillors.

Mayor Jim Eglinski has also filed his nomination papers to serve again as Mayor, the only candidate so far for the position. All nominees are listed on the city's website.

According to Chief electoral officer Janet Prestley, the numbers of nominations filed are down quite a bit from elections in previous years. She reports that in the 2005 elections, four candidates ran for mayor and 17 for council.

General election day is November 15th. The nomination period closes Oct 10 at 4 p.m.. Nomination papers are on the website, along with job descriptions, a new service this year.
