Real estate analysts are saying Fort St John, 100 Mile House and Fort Nelson are an exception to a generally downward trend in the market.

BC's Northern Real estate board just released their numbers for the past year, and in most of the north, sales were down by about 26 per cent. All over the north, houses are selling for less than they did last year and less properties are changing hands.

Dave Eaton, Director of the BC Northern Real estate board, says here in Fort St John, it's definitely a buyers market right now.

Eaton says sales are up by about 6.4 per cent in Fort St John. The city saw 632 properties sold in the past year, over last year's total of 594 sales. Fort Nelson had a similar increase, from 108 to 118 properties.

Sales in Prince George were down by 39 per cent from the same period last year.
