Officer Allegedly Assaulted at Grizfest
Police say, overall it was a well attended, and well behaved event. But it didn't go off without a hitch. One person faces numerous charges after a police officer was allegedly assaulted by a concert goer attending grizfest over the weekend. Constable Tim Hawks says Tumbler Ridge RCMP were patrolling the grounds Saturday they were drawn to someone creating a disturbance in the beer gardens.
"During this of course, he's causing a disturbance under the criminal code by yelling, and swearing. He was taken into custody by the members. During this an acquaintance of the individual was obviously upset."
Hawks says the second person allegedly threw a half full beer can at the an RCMP officer. They now faces charges including assault with a weapon and assaulting a police officer. They first was released without charges.
