21-year-old man dead after fiery collision between truck and train in Taylor


 Fort St. John RCMP are investigating a fatal collision between a pickup truck and a train that happened early Wednesday morning.

Police say around 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, May 17 they were called to a collision between a pickup truck and a southbound train at one of the controlled railway crossings in Taylor.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the pickup truck in the ditch fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire had been extinguished, police say a 21-year-old man was found deceased in the truck.

Another 21-year-old male passenger was transported to hospital in the Lower Mainland. His condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the truck was taken into police custody, but has since been released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
