Amazing Race set to kick off in Fort St John
The City of Fort St John is calling on residents to lace up their running shoes for this year’s Amazing Race.
The city is looking for 30 teams to sign up to race around the city solving clues and learning more about their community. The department of recreation says their event is very similar to the show.
“We do a series of puzzles," said Marissa Jordan, recreation programmer. "You have to sort of know the city because you’ll get a bit of a brainteaser that’s going to tell you the location to go to, so you kind of have to familiarize yourself with a few of the businesses in town, because you might get stumped on that first puzzle. The puzzle takes you to the location, where you have to complete a task.”
The competition is open to both adult teams and family teams, and Jordan says that all teams have a chance at crossing the finish line first.
“Last year our overall winner was a family, and they completed it in about an hour and a half," Jordan said. "It doesn’t really matter if it’s a team of adults, if it’s a team with kids, it can be anybody’s race depending on how you do it.”
The race is only open to people who pre-register, which can be done at the Pomeroy Sport Centre until Friday. The race will run on Friday, May 26th, at 5 p.m.
