Water main break forces road closure in downtown Fort St. John

City crews were hard at work in downtown Fort St John today, repairing a water main break.

Yesterday afternoon a water main broke at 100th Street between 100th Avenue and 99th Avenue.

Crews began emergency repairs overnight, which continued today.

100th Street was closed between 100th and 101st Avenue during the repairs.

Drivers moving east and westbound on 100th Avenue experienced minor delays.

The City says water was shut off in the area until the issue is resolved – which also caused some local businesses to shut down.

The cause of the water main break has not yet been identified.

The City has given no estimated time of repair, but those who are affected are encouraged to check the City of Fort St. John’s Facebook page for updates.
