Preparations are underway for CKNL Trade Show

Preparations are underway for this Fort St. John’s 46th annual CKNL Trade Show, set to run this weekend.

The show will be held at the Pomeroy Sports Centre from Friday until Sunday.

Almost anything you can think of will be at this year’s trade show – from various financial institutions to realtors, homemade artisan goods, and industry and trade services along with activities for the family and what trade shows are memorable for - amazing confectionery sellers.

The trade show is known for springing families out of their homes and into the community.

“Usually we say that spring has arrived although it’s hard to tell right now with the dump of snow we had last night. But, you know, it’s been a long winter. All of us are going crazy being in our houses, it’s a great opportunity to get out, see and learn about some new businesses, services in town that are local or are close to town that you might not have heard of and get out of the house, see people and visit and just get the feel for the community,” said Christina Hogarth, Trade Show Manager.

Over 300 vendors will spend the next few days setting up shop at their designated booths.

Organizers say that some vendors have been preparing for this weekend months in advance.

“This is a big event for people. These are businesses that might be home-based or might be smaller or starting out and this is an opportunity for them, that they prepare for months in advance. I mean where else can in one weekend can you expose your business to so many thousands of people. So it’s something to remember when you’re thinking about it, is the scope and importance of it for these small homemade businesses that might have been crafting and making products for months and months and months to get ready for this,” said Hogarth.
