Olympic speed skater Denny Morrison is going for gold Tuesday
Fort St. John's own Denny Morrison is going for gold tomorrow in Pyeongchang.
The speed skater will get a chance to win a fifth Olympic medal in long track speed skating early Tuesday morning our time.
Morrison will race in the men’s 1,500 metre race starting at 4 am mountain time Tuesday.
This is the fourth Olympic Games for the Fort St. John native and he will have a chance to win his fifth Olympic medal.
Morrison won silver in the team pursuit in Turin and when the Olympics were held in Vancouver, his team won gold in the team pursuit.
In Sochi, he won silver in the 1,000 metre race and bronze in the 1,500 hundred metre race.
It will be the ultimate test of his endurance after surviving a motorcycle crash in 2015 and a stroke in Utah the following year.
His wife Josie Spence is also competing at her first games. She is also participating in women’s speed skating.
