Police Across Region Investigating Reported Abduction Attempt

Police across the Peace are working together after a female flagger says she was almost abducted on Highway 29 this weekend.

According to RCMP - It happened around 9:30 a.m. on August 4th, near Szoo Road.

The flagger tells police that a dark blue van with silver striping approached her.

She says that when it came to a stop – an unfamiliar white man who was about 5'9 jumped out of the back doors and tried to pull her inside.

Police say when they couldn't get her in, they took off towards Hudson's Hope.

Police from Hudson's Hope, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Fort Nelson and Grande Prairie are all working to identify the suspect or vehicle involved... Canvassing neighbouring properties, speaking to witnesses and looking to obtain any relevant surveillance video.

The van is described as:

  • Dark blue with silver striping
  • Chrome on the front grill
  • Barn style rear doors

The suspect is described as:
  • White male
  • Roughly 5’9”
  • No accent when he spoke
