Independent Investigations Office of B.C. involved in Fort St. John RCMP incident

RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia of an incident in Fort St. John, which has resulted in injury.
At around 3 a.m. Monday (April 22, 2019) morning, a Fort St. John RCMP officer was paroling an area of the city, where theft from vehicles had occurred earlier in the evening. 
The officer attempted to speak to a man he encountered.
The man fled on foot and was eventually arrested.
Following the man’s arrest, injuries were observed.
The man was assessed at the RCMP detachment by the B.C. Emergency Health Service and then transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The officers were not injured.
The I.I.O.B.C. is now investigating to see if police actions or inactions are linked to the man’s injuries. 
As of right now, no further information has been released.
