Days of heavy rainfall took a toll on some of the region's streets prompting lane closures and the diversion of traffic over the weekend. Main highways going into and out of the region were spared from the brunt of the water, but several gravel and side roads quickly pooled up with water from the heavy rain.

Road 251 A in Tumbler Ridge, Pouce Coupe Park , and Lone Prairie Rd in Chetwynd were just a few of the roads that were washed out over the weekend.

" My biggest advice for drivers is to drive slowly and with caution along the side roads because those roads have been the most impacted by the rain and at Pine Pass . There's alot of construction going on right now and some of that construction has taken a beating from the rain as well," said Shelley Fulmes of the Cariboo Road Service.

Fulmes adds that much of the clean up should be done in the next few days, but advises anyone who sees a washed out road to report it through their hazard reporting line at 1-800-667-2322.
