Grande Prairie RCMP Investigating Multiple Thefts of Trailer Batteries

Grande Prairie RCMP say a number of their officers have been kept busy due to battery thefts.

Police say about 20 incidents of batteries being stolen from holiday trailers have been reported to them in the Grande Prairie area.

RCMP are investigating, and encourage residents to report any suspicious activity.

They offer the following general tips to keep your personal property safe:

  • Turn on outside lights at night
  • Install a timer for lights
  • Park recreational vehicles in sight and chain to something if unable to store indoors
  • Install surveillance cameras
  • Engrave items with your name or a serial number
  • Keep a detailed list of property including photos and serial numbers
  • Follow a nightly checklist to ensure everything is locked up
