Dawson Creek will once again play host to an international hockey tournament.

Hockey Canada has chosen the Encana Events Centre to host the 2019 World Junior A Challenge.

The tournament brings Junior A talent from around the world, and will include two Canadian teams - Canada East and Canada West. More than 300 NHL draft picks have played in the tournament since it was started in 2006, including Brock Boeser, Evgeny kuznetsov, David Pastrnak and Nail Yakupov.

This is the fourth Hockey Canada event the city will have seen in the 5 years, after hosting the U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2015 and 2017, and hosting this year's Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival.
