One man is in custody after a fatal hit and run in Fort St. John.

It happened on Wednesday evening, on 98 Avenue between 100 Street and 102 Street.

Police were called around 7:00 p.m., but the suspect vehicle had already fled the scene.

EMS pronounced both a 26-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman dead at the scene.

RCMP say a male surrendered to the local detachment shortly after 10:00 p.m.

His vehicle has since been seized.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident and hasn't yet spoken to police is asked to contact them at 250-787-8100.

Names of the deceased are being withheld.

However, police confirm they were both residents of Fort St. John.
