​Fatal Crash in Charlie Lake on Wednesday

Fort St. John RCMP say a 76-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after his truck crashed into a service truck.

Around 4:30 p.m., emergency services responded to a collision on 271 Road at Highway 97 in Charlie Lake.

Police say the 5-ton service truck was stopped at a red light on 271 Road when the man's Toyota pickup truck rear-ended it.

According to a release issued by Traffic Services, there was evidence of significant pre-collision braking by the Toyota.

The driver of the pickup was transported to hospital but later died.

The driver of the service truck was unharmed.
